LET'S DE-STRESS WITH JOY

"Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning."
~ Psalm 30:5

HAS THERE BEEEN INSTANCES when darkness surrounded us? When stress so severely bound us until we could barely breathe?

Remember how we worried and worried and worried, wondering if we would ever make it through? How we almost gave up?

Stress survivors know there've been situations and circumstances where we thought "night" would never end. Our lives were deeply darkened by stress, and we swore we couldn't take no more.

But. . . God's grace came and caused us to de-stress; He brought peace that pulled us from the darkness of stress; He brought joy that blessed our lives with beauty.

Since spending many stressful nights, we have discovered that GOD CAN CHANGE ANYTHING literally overnight. God can bestow the biggest, brightest, and most beautiful Joy in the morning.

Peace I leave with you . . .

LET'S DE-STRESS WITH A GOOD MORNING

(Psalm 118:24)

What's so good about this morning?

It's another day that the Lord has given us . . .

Sure, we may still have stresses of some sort, but with the dawning of this new day, we're witnessing God's grace and mercy to bring about our de-stress.

However great or small our de-stress may be, it's all GOOD.

Stress survivors are learning more and more with each new day the Lord provides that it's our choice to rejoice, be glad, and make the best of our mornings.

Let's de-stress with a good morning and be grateful in spite of all things.

Peace I leave with you . . .

LET'S DE-STRESS WITH DELIGHT

"Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart."
Psalm 37:4

DELIGHT? Is it kosher to combine de-stress and delight together? Sure it is!

Often in our need to de-stress, there's a nagging need to delight ourselves in something. Though our 'somethings' may not be the same, we generally see delight as a path to peace.

Remember David's 'something' with Bathsheba during "the time when kings go out to battle . . ." (2 Samuel, chapter 11) and how he chose to delight himself? That WAS NOT delight in the Lord.

When we choose to delight ourselves in the Lord and experience His precious peace, there are some specific things we should do.

Stress survivors believe that some of the greatest advice to delight in the Lord comes from one of David's familiar passages of Psalms. Let's de-stress with delight from Psalm 37. . .

Do not fret because of evil doers,
Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.
 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass,
and wither as the green herb.
 Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
 Delight yourself also in the Lord,
and He shall give you the desires of your heart.
 Commit your way to the Lord,
trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.
 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
and your justice as the noonday.
 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;
 Do not fret--it only causes harm.
 For evildoers shall be cut off; But those who wait on the Lord,
They shall inherit the earth.
 For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more;
Indeed, you will look carefully for his place,
but it shall be no more.
 But the meek shall inherit the earth, and shall
 delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

(Psalm 37:1-11, NKJV)

Peace I leave with you . . .

LET'S DE-STRESS WITH GOD'S MERCY

"But the mercy of the Lord is
from everlasting to everlasting..."

~ Psalm 103:17

No doubt, stress survivors here, there, and everywhere, seem to be witnessing a stressful season. Seems like, if it's not too much of one thing, it's too little of another.

We cannot afford to stress out because of the way things "seem." We are stress survivors, and by "the mercy of the Lord," we shall continue to survive.

Come on, let's de-stress with God's mercy from Psalm 103:15-17.

As for man, his days are like grass;
As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.
For the wind passes over it,
and it is gone.
And its place remembers it no more.
But the mercy of the Lord is
from everlasting to everlasting
on those who fear Him...

LET'S DE-STRESS AND PERSEVERE

"You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God,
 you will receive what He has promised."
~ Hebrews 10:36

PERSEVERE? Does this mean keep on keeping on, even in stress? Absolutely!

Often times we allow the ordeal of stress to steal our strength . . . to warp our reasoning . . . to cloud our God-given visions . . . and, ultimately, to diminish our confidence in God's Word.

Let's de-stress and persevere while waiting and watching for God's promises. Let's renew our stamina with a de-stress favorite from HEBREWS 10:32-36 (NIV).

32) Remember those earlier days
after you had received the light,
when you stood your ground in a great contest
in the face of suffering.

33) Sometimes you were publicly exposed
 to insult and persecution;
at other times you stood side by side
with those who were so treated.

34) You sympathized with those in prison
and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property,
because you knew that you yourselves had better
and lasting possessions.

35) So do not throw away your confidence;
it will be richly rewarded.

36) You need to persevere so that when
you have done the will of God,
you will receive what he has promised.

LET'S DE-STRESS BY BEING STILL

"Be still, and know that I am God . . ."
- Psalm 46:10
WHEN was the last time we sat still and did absolutely nothing?

Being "still" truly has become a lost art. It's next to nonexistence. The average person is constantly caught up in a bustle of activity. We rush here; rush there; rush, rush, rush, everywhere.

Why wouldn't there be stress, stress, stress, everywhere? Be not deceived, the more speedy life becomes, the more stress it brings.

Many are beginning to realize that hopping here and there doesn't render our lives better; only busier. And, indeed, more stressful.

Though we all are exposed to a super-fast world, stress survivors purposely choose times to be still. We are convinced that being still in the presence of God, brings about the peace of God.

When we know God in a personal way--through a personal relationship--we're confident in seeking His Word for stress. No questions about it, we need God's supernatural strength to eliminate annoying stress and experience genuine de-stress.

If we aspire to do something grand this summer, let's de-stress by habitually choosing time to be still and to seek God's will.

Peace I leave with you . . .

LET'S DE-STRESS WITH SUMMER DREAMS

"And Joseph dreamed a dream . . ."
~ Genesis 37:5 KJV

A SUMMER DREAM?! . . . Why, of course!  Summer dreams equal summer fun. And what better way to de-stress than lots and lots of summer fun?

Considering all our dreams of summer fun, if not careful, we can find ourselves overcome by stress. We can easily agree that all summer dreams don't end with fun.

Quite often, we stress over lack of time, energy, and material resources needed to make our summer dreams come true. When comparing the summer dreams we can reasonably attain to those The Jones' are enjoying, we stress even greater.

Stress survivors are discovering how to dream with less stress, and, fortunately, less expenses. We're reminded of Cinderella and her dream of going to "The Ball."  She had no money, no transportation, no friends, no nothing whatsoever -- and yet, she dreamed. Amazingly . . . all her dreams came true.

If not into classic tales, let's consider a biblical truth about a young lad's dream.  "Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more." (Genesis 37:5 NIV)

In spite of a bad situation and unpleasant circumstances, Joseph kept on dreaming. And what happened? His dreams, too, eventually came true.

Come on, let's de-stress with summer dreams. Whether our dreams lean towards a Cinderella summer or something of a more serious nature, it doesn't cost a single cent to dream. And . . . it's an awesome means for summer de-stress.

Peace I leave with you . . .

LET'S DE-STRESS WITH A NEW SEASON

"To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under the heaven . . ."
~Ecclesiastes 3:1

SUMMER is right around the corner. Again, God gives A NEW SEASON.

Stress survivors welcome changing seasons. We anticipate the progression of big and beautiful changes; weather changes . . . scenery changes . . .  routine changes . . . and even de-stress changes.

No doubt, new seasons bring on new stresses. As exciting as the summer season can be, certain stresses are bound to creep in. That's why it's important that we consider a de-stress plan--before the season sets in.

With so many summer options to choose from, we can embrace all kinds of de-stress. And, get this, money need not be an issue. Some of the most phenomenal means of de-stress are those simple things surrounding us.

 Sit down. Look around. Let's de-stress with a new season. And let's enjoy all those wonderful things God has given us.

Peace I leave with you . . .

LET'S DE-STRESS WITH PROMISES

"For all the promises of God in Him are yes, and in Him Amen,
to the glory of God through us."
~ 2 Corinthians 1:20 NKJV

Isn't it amazing how stress overwhelms us when people make promises and fail to follow through?

We slip quite easily into pity parties and prolonged periods of stress, standing on those promises of families, friends, and colleagues.

Let's be honest, here, okay? Every promise is not created equal; and every person does not always honor his/her word.

Bounced from one stress to another. . .and another. . .and another,  stress survivors have discovered whose promises to depend on.

The words in 2 Corinthians 1:20 assure us that God's promises are "YES" and "AMEN."

Those steadfast, immovable, and always abounding promises of God are absolutely real. Always. God's promises are our supernatural doors to de-stress . . . our ultimate lifeline in times of mega stress.

We can depend on God. If He's promised "it"--whatever it is--we need not worry; we need not stress. God, The All-Powerful One, will manifest His glory of "YES" and "AMEN."

Peace I leave with you . . .

Have you not known?

Have you not heard?

The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends

Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is

He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might
He increases strength.

Even the youths shall faint

They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

LET'S DE-STRESS WITH OUR WORDS

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue..."
Proverbs 18:21

HASN'T THERE BEEN days when someone spoke the very words we needed to hear?

Can't we recall times and situations when people eased our stress, simply by something they said?

Surely, we can remember incidents when someone's unpleasant or offensive words left us sad and stressed.

Be not deceived, words are extremely powerful. They can heal, and they can hurt. Words can be priceless, and they can be painful.

Proverbs, the Bible's book on life, teaches that "death and life are in the power of the tongue."

Plain and simple, kind and considerate words can enhance life and give it great meaning; whereas harsh and heartless words can destroy life's joy and cause unbelievable stress.

Stress survivors uphold the power of words and the difference they can make. There's been many times when someone's soothing words chased our stresses away.

Again, be not deceived, for we can't know what powerful de-stress the tongue possesses . . . until we actually try it.

Peace I leave with you . . .

LET'S DE-STRESS WITH GREAT REWARD

WHO, among us, would not welcome a great reward?

Strangely enough, everyone wants some sort of reward.

Our wonderful world is consumed by strong and serious seekers of great rewards--failure to accomplish or to qualify for certain rewards can create various forms of stress.

Let's de-stress with great reward from a passage of Psalms.

The law of the Lord is perfect,
converting the soul;
The testimony of he Lord is sure,
making wise the simple;
The statutes of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes;
The fear of the Lord is clean,
enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true
and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold,
Yea, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Moreover by them Your servant is warned,
And in keeping them there is great reward.

Psalm 19:7-ll NKJV

LET'S DE-STRESS WITH PRINCIPLES

And whatever he does shall prosper.
Psalm 1:3

Pure and pleasant de-stress requires certain principles -- most definitely with our desire to prosper.

Countless stresses are encountered every second of every day, by those seeking to prosper without God's authentic principles.

Let's de-stress with principles designed to prosper from the Book of Psalms.

Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.

He shall be like a tree
planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;

And whatever he does shall prosper.

Psalm 1:1-3, NKJV

LET'S DE-STRESS AND PROSPER

 "...it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it."
Isaiah 55:11.

If we'd ask a million people what's the main thing they recommend for a prosperous year, we'd most likely get a million different answers.

Generally, no two thoughts are alike. Sometimes similar, but not the same. And if one's thoughts indeed generate one's words, then, yes, it's bound to be a difference in what's said.

As much as stress survivors desire to see good in every one and to willingly extend benefits of doubt, our stress-filled experiences have convinced us that relying on the word of others often causes stress

But countless blessings of peace and provision and protection that we witness from God's Word, prove--unquestionably--that we can trust Him and prosper through His Word.

Let's de-stress and prosper from God's Word in Isaiah 55:8-11.

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,"
says the Lord.

"For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways.
And My thoughts than your thoughts.

For as the rain comes down,
And the snow from heaven,
And do not return there, but water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater,
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;

It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it."
